In the interest of saving you time, we’ll cut to the chase! We’ve lowered the price for our U.S. GAAP eLearning library subscription! This may raise a few questions in your mind, which is why we’ve decided to write this post.
After receiving some candid and thought-provoking feedback from a friend about the price of an annual subscription for our U.S. GAAP eLearning Library, we decided to begin a little market research project to review our competitors and see how our product stacks up against theirs. We’ll get to that in a moment!
Remind me, what’s included in the subscription?
For those of you unfamiliar with our U.S. GAAP eLearning subscription, here’s the skinny. With your subscription you’ll receive:
- 365 days of unlimited access to our U.S. GAAP eLearning library, with over 90 CPE-eligible courses (and growing), including an annual U.S. GAAP update, microlearning, webinars, and industry-specific training for banking, insurance, and investment management,
- Invitations to join additional CPE-eligible webinars throughout the year (4+ events per year),
- A box of GAAP swag, including our exclusive GAAPologist superpower t-shirt, and
- A CPE tracker on our online platform so that you can keep your CPE certificates (from us and others) organized throughout the year.
So, has the subscription been overpriced?
We feel strongly that the pricing for our subscription has been well-justified given the high quality and relevancy of our topics and training. Our company isn’t interested in throwing a ton of quick, “tick the box” eLearning training up on our platform. Quite the contrary! We are interested in creating the kind of training that sticks with you and provides some FUN while you’re at it. It’s the training that we would want to take, which is our brand promise!
Our pricing is now a bit more in-line with competitors, but the value and quality of our eLearning training is – and will continue to be – significantly higher. In addition, our team regularly reviews our course evaluation surveys and takes learner feedback to heart. While we can’t speak for our competitors, we just haven’t gotten the same vibe from them.
What did you find in your competitive analysis?
This was very eye-opening! At first glance, our competitors offer a LOT more courses than we do. Some of them proudly proclaim they have 500+ courses available in their library. However, when you start to look at the types of courses, you’ll quickly realize that these subscriptions are filled with a lot of non-technical coursework. In almost all our competitors’ libraries, we saw that the topics covering technical accounting made up less than 20% of their library! In addition, none of our competitors’ base subscriptions include webinars! Our subscription includes not only proper eLearning, but also webinars and microlearning. Variety is the spice of life!
Most importantly we believe our eLearning is of a much higher quality compared to our competitors. A bit too often, we found that their eLearning was not really our definition of eLearning at all, but rather voice-over PowerPoint slides, recorded webinars, or the worst, downloadable PDFs. Talk about BORING! Without engagement, how does learning occur?
